Our Values

  • Compassion
  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Hospitality
  • Excellence

Compassion
Definition: Compassion is essential to the healing relationship. It is the response to suffering that says 'you are not alone', and it takes courage and companionship to sustain it. It is the key to holistic care because it is the product of imagination and affiliation. Compassion lets one feel as the other feels, and so enriches me and invites me to provide what the other person needs.

Behaviour: Nurturing the life of clients and all those who work with me. It requires the ability to move beyond the feeling and thinking to action.

Respect
Definition: Coupled with compassion, Respect reminds us that the one in our care is a person, quite unique and distinct from me. Respect commands partnership in healing and caring. Respect invites the carer to protect the person in their vulnerability and at the same time preserve their dignity. Compassionate respect is indispensable if we are to deliver care which is truly effective.

Behaviour: Recognising the rights of all persons and treating each person with dignity. Working collaboratively as a team member; having clarity of roles.

Honesty
Definition: Honesty is being truthful, sincere and direct. It is the quality of being moral, honest and upright. Honesty is about preserving standards and caring about compliance.

Behaviour: Critical reflection and dialogue; responsible use of resources. Clarity of purpose, truth and sincerity in our communications

Hospitality
Definition: Hospitality is a way of offering a haven in which rest, welcome and understanding are extended to each person entering our services. It is a matter of every person on the staff taking up the challenge of making sure everyone feels at home, at ease here.

Behaviour: Respecting and welcoming everyone who comes into our presence. Inviting all who wish to be part of the rich tradition and resources of Catholic Healthcare; services provided to those most in need.

Excellence
Definition: Excellence is service of the highest quality, being of great merit, acting in ways to optimize quality outcomes.

Behaviours: Leading the way in benchmarks for care and services. Incorporating organisational principles into programs and participating in annual review of your work in a developmental context.
